Phil Yores has been consulting in the area of executive and director compensation since 1997. He focuses on executive total compensation design with an emphasis on incentive programs promoting shareholder value, outside director compensation program design and analysis, executive employment contracts, severance and change-in-control agreements, performance measure selection and development, financial analysis of proposed compensation changes and incentive designs, flexible perquisite program design, and supplemental executive retirement plans.

Phil has experience addressing compensation matters in challenging environments such as private companies (closely held and private equity -influenced), regulated or constrained entities (e.g. quasi-public sector organizations), bankruptcy situations, and pre-IPOs.

Phil’s clients include companies in diverse industries including business services, gold mining, retailing, financial services, utilities, manufacturing, insurance, heavy construction and equipment, transportation and food processing. His client relationships usually involve a direct reporting relationship to the Compensation Committee.

Phil is the author of several articles and speeches covering, among other topics, trends in executive compensation, Board of Director pay and executive perquisites.

Phil began his career as a CA at Deloitte and was a Senior Manager in the tax practice. He spent over 13 years with Hewitt Associates in its executive compensation practice in Toronto and was a member of the Canadian Technical Team.
